Northern California
Committed to finding healthy, happy homes for Great
Danes in need.
GDRNC is a group of dedicated volunteers concerned with the welfare of
Great Danes. The rescue saves the lives of Great Danes every day by
taking in surrendered and found Danes, by funding their medical care and
advanced surgical treatments, performing spay and neutering services
along with providing shelter, food and rehabilitation training.
What does “rescue” mean to us? The word rescue can mean to set free
from confinement, it implies freeing from imminent danger by prompt or
vigorous action, it suggests a bringing back to a former state or
condition of someone or something abandoned or debased, it may further
imply a preserving or maintaining for usefulness or continued existence.
For us that means finding, accepting, treating, rehabilitating and
re-homing a Dane with the final outcome of complete recovery for the
Dane.
We strive to provide a safe haven for lost, abandoned or surrendered Danes until we can find loving safe homes for them. We feel it is our heartfelt responsibility to do all that we can for every Dane that comes into our safe haven and into our care.
We believe that Danes are quite often misunderstood because of their
size and have great special needs and it is our intention to find new,
permanent, and loving homes for Great Danes that have been abandoned,
abused, neglected and or surrendered to us in the greater Northern
California area. We know Great Danes to be extremely sensitive and
loving creatures whose hearts are great, emotions deep and legs long.
With this in mind the Great Dane Rescue of Northern California makes
every effort to understand the specific needs of each Dane that comes
into our care. We also go to great lengths to thoroughly interview and
screen families interested in an adoption to create the best possible
match between dog, new owner and new home.
Through generous donations from loving people with big hearts, we are
able to provide these services and keep operation running for our
precious Danes. As a non-profit organization we participate fund raising
events year round and have a wonderful host of generous volunteers that
help keep operations running.
