Available Danes

Tucker is back now available for you to take home!

Tucker was returned to Rescue by people who didn’t understand that he’s a high-energy puppy who needs lots of exercise, some training and a family with patience. This adorable, 11-month-old Boston boy is full of energy! He was born to run, so needs a home with high-energy people ready to provide some training and lots of exercise. He knows a few basic commands but needs some consistent rules and loving attention. A bit shy at first, he adapts quickly and is ready to play. He may be too high-energy for younger children, cats and small dogs. For more information about Tucker, please call or email COLLEEN @  CLEAHY1955@YAHOO.COM (916) 652-6444

"Holly"

Yes, Holly is back with us again.  Not a dog problem, but rather a people problem.  "People", meaning the people who adopt this sweet girl and don't view the adoption as a commitment for life.  Holly is a 5+ year old  spayed, current on vaccinations almost-a-Boston Dane girl.  VERY loving, VERY sweet.  Housebroken and obedient.  She is good with the dogs she has lived with but, and I repeat, she is NOT A DOG PARK DOG.  For some reason people have a hard time remembering this and continually try to make her a dog park dog.  Holly is not great meeting new dogs on walks, especially tan or golden coated breeds.  With a strong owner, she is fine walking, you just have to let her know you are in control and to settle down.  She has lived with multiple Danes and been fine, numerous min pins and was fine till they tried to swipe her food, lived with a Bernese Mountain dog and LOVED him, plus a mixed breed boy and a small  male  She is good with the pack she lives with, just not with dogs she meets in the park or on the street.  So, here is Holly's wish list for a new home:  (1) a nice male dog to play with, (2) people who have owned Danes before and are knowledgeable about walking a girl who is not great meeting new dogs, (3) people who want a supremely affectionate, loving Dane and (4) a family who understands Holly is NOT A DOG PARK DOG!  If you are a smart dog owner, looking for a dog for life and interested in Holly, please contact Colleen at cleahy1955@yahoo.com

PRIVATE ADOPTIONS:

Dogs listed below are not at the rescue facility, but rather still in their own homes waiting for someone to adopt them.

us immediately; this is not our policy.  Please read the entire post to see who you need to contact if you are

Peek-a-Boo

Pee-a-Boo is a 140 pounds five year old spayed Harlequin female pure bred Dane that needs some special love Dane style. She was originally purchased from a Missouri breeder as a puppy, brought out to California, and then used as a breeding female by a couple in Southern California; after a couple of litters they then discarded her to a shelter. Her  next owner, the one we rescued her from, kept her in a small backyard with dog house and was going to leave at shelter when he were evicted.

Peek-a-Boo was elated to come to a home that had acreage so she could run, play, and socialize with other dogs.  She even had her first knuckle bone which at first was a little confusing to her but instinct soon took over.  First, gnawing & chewing, and then burying for a later snack.

She needs to be the only dog in the home; she does not like other large dogs and will act defensively and aggressively toward other large dogs picking fights with them. She is however, a couch potato and loves to sleep on the bed with you and lounge on her sofa.

This is an indoor dog, she enjoys her outdoor exercise but when she's ready to come in she'll let you know. She has the Dane nudge down pat and is a real lover. She enjoys helping you in the kitchen and loves to give you hugs. Can put her front paws on shoulders of a 6'2 person. She is a true gentle giant who forgets her size. She also loves car rides and seems to recognize the McDonalds symbol and the smell of French fries.  She needs more leash and obedience training but is a willing girl.  She has sit, come, stay, and quiet, down, and knows a bark collar.
